Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel is a family owned and run business. We seek to create an environment of rest and recreation in peaceful gardens and relaxing amenities that provide a uniquely differentiated experience capitalising on personal service, the historical nature of Maldon and the motel's unique location in one of the most attractive parts of Central Victoria.
We are committed to operating with sustainability in mind and seek to source all our supplies and services as locally as possible and thereby make a meaningful contribution to our local community.
The current owners of the motel are Deborah Benson & Christopher Creek.
The Motel was originally built (1980's) as part of the Old Eaglehawk Hotel (originally established in 1854) complex but separated into two separate titles in 1996. The original concept for the motel has been lovingly cared for over the years.
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel, along with the Old Eaglehawk Hotel is part of a direct link to the old Eaglehawk Gully diggings of the early 1850s: little else in the area is.
Today, its ambience and facilities provide a wonderful boutique experience for people wishing to stay in Maldon. It is a place to relax (in the gardens, by the pool, or around the bbq with friends and family) after a day of doing the “touristy stuff” in the area. It's only a 10 minute walk into town and to some wonderful places to eat.
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel provides a wonderful and centrally located base from which to explore this fascinating region; and Chris' knowledge of the area will help you do that.
Since arriving at the Motel Deborah and Christopher have become published authors. Christopher’s book explores the early years around Eaglehawk Gully and Deborah’s book explores the tragedy of the first man hanged at the old Castlemaine Gaol. The books are for sale at the motel.
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel is the small motel with a big difference.
